Ultimate Fandango 2021, Texas

From 092821-100421, LeeAndra and I went on a road trip (our first together!) to Bent’s Old Fort, McClave and Lamar, Colorado for a day and night, and then on to Texas to join the Ultimate Fandango 2021, and then back for a night in the Great Sand Dunes National Park to camp in the dunes! 2192 miles over 42 hours in the car, and we just had the best time. This set is the Texas

Easter Sunrise Service 2013 at Red Rocks Amphitheater, Morrison, Colorado 031313 by Jason Claypool

What a great event! Over 11,000 turned out to what is normally a 9,000+ capacity facility for this year’s Easter Sunrise Service, and the beauty and grace of Red Rocks Amphitheater gets a bit of the credit for that. The weather was perfect with no breeze, clear moonlit skies, and a steady 30F until the sun came up. We bundled up, but there was plenty of warmth and brotherhood to go around! It was literally

Adam Carolla Mangria signing at Applejack Wine & Spirits, Denver / Wheat Ridge, Colorado 030213 by Jason Claypool

Adam Carolla stopped by Applejack Wine and Spirits for a signing for his new Mangria line of sangria, before a show on the Adam and Drew Tour at the Paramount that night. I’m guessing there were about 500 people in line, each one of them Adam’s biggest fan from his work on KROQ as Mr. Birchum, Loveline on MTV, Loveline on the radio, The Man Show, best-selling books, The Hammer movie, vintage car racing, home-improvement

Thanksgiving 2012- 21 lb applewood-smoked bacon-wrapped turkey with orange juice brine and white wine steam in the Pit Barrel Cooker Copyright 2012 Jason Claypool

Thanksgiving 2012 – 21lb. applewood-smoked bacon-wrapped turkey with orange juice brine and white wine steam in the Pit Barrel Cooker

I think the title says it all. For Thanksgiving this year, I made a 21 lb. apple-wood-smoked bacon-wrapped turkey with orange juice brine and white wine steam in my Pit Barrel Cooker. Brined about 3 hours, smoked about 10 hours overnight…you can imagine how good this turkey is! EDIT 112412: One problem, though, this is only the 3rd or 4th time I’ve used the Pit Barrel Cooker, and the powder coating is flaking off even

Anthony’s Chevelle, Loading Up For Bandimere, Denver, Colorado 101312

Anthony’s Chevelle 101312 by Jason Claypool. I haven’t gotten to play around with shooting a car for a while, and I couldn’t help myself catching these shots while Anthony was loading up his car for a race the next day at Bandimere! Anthony showed me around his garage a few weeks ago, and I was just blown away by the effort he has sunk into his cars. I saw his upholstered, diamond-plated bar that he

Black Widow and Bees 072212

We woke up to find this Black Widow hanging from a tall bit of grass in front of my porch, and were struck by the crazy bee activity on my biggest Russian Sage plant. I think this weekend I will spend some time in the morning light with a tripod to watch the bees. And no, our little poisonous friend did not live long after these shots. Please contact me about the sizes possible for

Crawfish at The Yabby Hut, Lakewood, Colorado 031512

Pardon the diversion…I couldn’t resist a quick snap and a personal post tonight! That’s 3 lbs of crawfish, spread on a table and steaming hot! We were thrilled to find this place today, and couldn’t believe we hadn’t even known that a cheap and very tasty crawfish shack had been open a few minutes from us for two years! Crawfish, a root beer, a basket of calamari, a fried banana for desert and a bib

Coffee Cupping at Noa Noa Coffee in Golden, Colorado 033112

This was a lot of fun. Rick Myers and the owner of Noa Noa set up this cupping, and invited the roaster to come in and educate the masses a bit about four different coffees he specializes in, and some different techniques and equipment. As a HUGE espresso fan, it was so interesting to find some brewed roasts I actually like, and it was fascinating to taste everything that was going on with the Rwanda.
