Rotors Of The Rockies Flight 072001

A few of these shots were used by Rotors Of The Rockies for their brochures and web site a few years ago! My first commercial work, even with the point and shoot I had at the time!

Pilot Mike Fyola worked with me at Jeffco Sheriff’s Office, and left to open his own helicopter pilot instruction business, Rotors of the Rockies, at Rocky Mountain Airport. He took me up in a Schweitzer with a 300cc engine. Because of the temperature outside in July, and the fact that we were both over 200lbs, he calculated that we had to take off the doors to save weight and have a safe flight.

What amazes me now is how good these pictures turned out. I knew nothing about photography then, and only had a 2 megapixel point-and-shoot. And did I mention the doors were off and that I was leaning out over a Rockies game?

Yee-haw!
